Pessoa Pessoa Lunging System

Pessoa Lunging System

Created by Nelson Pessoa and crafted in hand finished English leather. Ultra fine stitching and raising. With 5/8" flat laced reins.

Size: Pony and Horse

"The Pessoa lunging system is the perfect tool. Children don't always have the leg to make ponies encourage the hind end. The pulley by the bit keeps the ponies from rootingl once they pull down they immediately get their hind end pushed under them. Some ponies are built slightly uphill and changing the setting for the various head carriages helps bring them down on the bit correctly."

-Patricia Griffith
2007 Winner of the Emerson Burr Trophy for the
trainer of the Overall Pony Champion at
the USEF Pony finals

"When we lunge the ponies we like to make that time count for something and make the ponies work correctly, not just run around at the end of the lunge line. The Pessoa Lunging system does this perfectly. It puts the ponies' head carriages in a natural position by pushing the hind end under them, for a good balance.

-Bibby Farmer, Manager & Asst. Trainer Don Stewart Stables
Trainer of 2007 USEF Medium Pony Champion and USEF 2007 Pony Medal Finals winner

Used correctly, the Pessoa system can work wonders for teaching the horse to move "as a unit" (from back to front)while developing strength and suppleness. Takes the horse some getting used to, so a slow, quiet introduction to "all those straps" especially behind the hamstrings, is very important for a positive experience. A bit pricey IMO, considering it does not include caveson nor surcingle. Otherwise I would have rated it higher.
